Cruise to Rhos on Sea and Picnic

Sunday 9th of July 2023 saw the welcomed annual cruise and picnic to Rhos on Sea. 6 boats set off at 11:00 am towards the Little Orme in a gentle force 2 in plenty of sunshine. Once out of Llandudno bay the wind became a little fickle and cyclonic and much fun was had trying to guess the best way into some better wind which always seemed to be about 100m away from you. But with some persiverance all landed in Rhos at around 12:30. Gareth went off for some ice creams which were well and truelly melting by the time he returned much to the amusement of the rest of us who were tucking into their picnics. Whilst on the beach the wind filled in to a steady force 3 from the North so it was decided to make tracks back to Llandudno in case the wind decided to dissappear. This held until we got to the Little Orme where it decided to drop off to just the right amount to stop you making headway against the tide. But patience persivered and the wind filled in again for a good blast into the bay in time to have the boats packed away before any rumbles of thunder.

A great day was had by all according to the smiles on everyones faces. It was nice to see the return of Colin in Scorpion 1977 after a near 4 year absence (I imagine he will be aching tomorrow but sleeping like a baby tonight). 😁 Thanks to Brian for filling in as crew fir him. Thanks also to Peter, Gareth, Ewan and Mark for manning the ribs and keeping us all safe.
