Sunday welcomed the beginning of the delayed Salisbury Series for Llandudno sailors which now runs most Sunday’s up until mid July. The previous Sunday had been abandoned due to extremely light winds.
This Sunday was by some distance a complete contrast with strong gusty winds which continued to build in strength during the morning. The trapezoid course proved challenging for both races with most sailors experiencing the chill waters of the Bay when the inevitable capsize occurred.
However all boats continued to compete in the face of these very challenging conditions with wind speeds reaching 30 knots during the second race.
Once again Paul Moreton continued his good form so far this season to take an early overall lead in the Series with a first and second. There was also a excellent showing from the Farrell brothers, Kevin and Liam, who retained second place overall despite a rather spectacular capsize during the second race. Holding third at the moment is the new pairing of Rich Jones and Phil Roberts in their Scorpion.
