Race Report 8th Oct “Constable Trophy”
After several weeks of stormy weather conditions, last Sunday’s calmer winds and flatter seas provided an excellent opportunity for Llandudno Sailing Club to enjoy being on the water.
As an extra bonus, the much anticipated ‘Constable Trophy’ was scheduled. A chance for the sailors to leave Llandudno Bay and venture out the 3 nautical miles to round the Constable Buoy, due North of Llandudno, and return.
So for some sailors it’s an extended race, for others it’s a chance to enjoy the broader sea conditions and appreciate the real beauty of Llandudno Bay when being approached from the sea.
Weather conditions remained constant throughout the race, with the wind dropping off only during the final push back into the Bay. Paul Moreton headed the fleet for most of the morning and returned back to shore in first place. Veteran Rob Davies showed many younger sailors how to master the conditions by coming in second from a persistent and determined John Brown. All sailors though enjoyed the morning and the opportunity to test their skills outside the Bay.
